ContiTech Oil & Gas History

  • 1856
    Gummiwarenfabrik Albert & Louis Cohen founded in Hamburg, Germany, later to become Phoenix AG.

  • 1871
    Continental-Caoutchouc und Gutta-Percha Compagnie founded in Hanover, Germany, later to become Continental AG.

  • 1955
    Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd. founded in Grimsby, UK and goes on to supply the world’s first marine oil transfer hose in 1958.

  • 1995
    The Phoenix Group acquires a majority holding in Eddelbüttel & Schneider of Hamburg, Germany, a manufacturer of large-bore hoses for dredging, mining and other marine applications.

  • 1996
    The Phoenix Group acquires Taurus Emergé of Szeged, Hungary, world renowned manufacturer of high pressure hoses for the oil industry.

  • 1999
    Beattie Tauro-Flex Corp is established in Houston, Texas, to serve the oil & gas sector. It later became ContiTech Oil & Marine Corp.

  • 2000
    Phoenix acquires Dunlop Oil & Marine of Grimsby, and K&B Beattie of Ashington, both in the UK.

  • 2004
    German tyre manufacturer and automotive supplier Continental AG acquires a majority stake in Phoenix AG and creates the specialist Product Marketing Segment of ContiTech Oil & Marine, becoming ContiTech Oil & Gas in 2015.

  • 2015
    Construction of Production facility for Marine hoses completed in Macaé, Brazil.
